Abstract: | Within the last two decades field research has demonstrated that tsunami may leave a broad variety of different deposits ranging from fine sediments, widely distributed but in thin layers and hidden in other sediment units, to boulder deposits as significant landscape marks. Hitherto, the accumulation of bimodal sediments, a mixture of fine and coarse grain sizes, was neglected in its relevance for the discussion of tsunami sedimentation despite the widespread occurrence of such bimodal sediments. This paper will overview the role of these mixed deposits in tsunami sedimentation history. |
